I'm Megan, and this is the blog dedicated to my Major Project whilst in my final year at Uni, in little ol' Wellington, NZ. I've decided to follow through with my passion, a job I started over summer, for Wellington Fashion Week. I've discovered their weakness being their website which you can head to by clicking the star link up the top.

Kind of like this. The outline needs a bit more work. Will do this tomorrow.

had a go at making my own pattern, I want to use over photos of workrooms, even the beginning of the runway when they’re fitting out the models

Exploring different layout ideas for the book.

Vogue Magazine are one of the big players in the fashion industry, showcasing high end fashion, and in a magazine the shoots are beautiful, but the feel of a magazine isn’t as classy as a book with a hard cover or.. whatever really.

While it is completely feasible because they’re making money by selling them at a cheaper cost with cheaper materials, a high class book for WFW would showcase the designers from the season just finished. WFW’s point of difference is that the designers on board are showcasing summer AND winter which not many fashion weeks do, apparently.

Website… and Book?

So with the website alone probably not being enough to pull through the whole project, another medium I’m looking at is a book/magazine/annual report kind of thing. Ideally a book, with a high end finish, bound etc.

While the website directs users to a ‘then and there’ information space, a report/book could function well after they (WFW) finish their season of campaigning etc. Showcasing the designers in a really lovely way and giving the audiences something to remember. Similar to artists having their work showcased in a book, even though they’re exhibiting. People want to remember what they’ve seen. Memorabilia.

since talking to Patricia last week, have been looking at VOGUE for inspiration to do a book/magazine type thing for after Fashion Weeks to wrap up the whole event. The website is a great idea, but it’s not enough to pull me through this whole project, so I’m looking at this idea too.
